Please take a look at our tips. They are often unique and may surprise you.
REMOVE INK STAINS FROM SUEDE
You dropped your ballpoint pen, and it left a mark on your suede shoe. Try removing it by rubbing the stain carefully with fine sandpaper. This will work for scuff marks and other stains as well.
CLEAN WHITE LEATHER
Clean dirty white leather shoes with a white, non-gel toothpaste. Rub it on, rinse it off, and wipe shoes dry.
BANISH TEARS WITH A CANDLE
Try slicing the onion under running water into a colander in your sink. Or light a candle next to your work area before you begin sliicing. The gasses that make your eyes water will burn off before they reach you.
POP YOUR CORK WITH EASE
Wrap a bit of wax paper around a cork, and next time it will come out of the bottle without the usual effort.
GIVE LIMP CELERY A BOOST
Reviitalize those rubbery celery stalks by cutting them into pieces or strips and store them in a plastic container with enough water to cover the bottom.
SOAK UP CARPET SPILLS
Whenever you spill latex paint on your carpet, blend together one tablespoon of liquid dish detergent, one tablespoon of vinegar, and one quart of warm water. Sponge the spill away with this super paint remover.
BELIEVE IT OR NOT
To prevent white paint from turning yellow, stir in a drop of black paint!
FLUFF UP YOUR CARPET
If you've got areas of carpet mashed down from heavy furniture, you can fluff them back up by placing an ice cube in each "dent." Let it melt, then come back with an old toothbrush, toothpick, coin, or just your fingers to perk up the nap.
REMOVE OLD FURNITURE POLISH
Boil two tea bags in a quart of water and let cool. Soak a soft cloth in the tea and wring out. Wipe off dirt and old polish, let dry, buff, and then decide if you need to reapply polish.
REMOVE CANDLE WAX FROM YOUR SOFA
All is not lost if you accidentally drip candle wax on your upholstered sofa or chair. Lay a brown paper bag over the hardened wax and slide a hot iron over the bag. The wax will soften and transfer itself to the bag.
